GW6 Select XI

SATURDAY MORNING UPDATE:  Due to a change in rhe rules I have brought in Fellaini for Rafael. 


This is my provisional Select XI for the forthcoming GW 6.  I say provisional due to the League Cup game midweek.  As usual this team has been 'optimised' via the players underlying stats and given fixtures to give me the most points potential for the budget (£73.8m).  The data tells me to captain Fletcher or Mirallas.  I have also limited my picks to one player from each team's atatck or defence, else Fellaini AND Pienaar would be in midfield too.

GK / DEFENCE

Begovic  Stoke are a solid team defensively, as we all know.  Last season they struggled to deal with their European jaunt.  This year without that distraction they should be back to their old self and with Adam in the team can retain the ball a bit better if so desired.

Rafael Scored two this season and well involved in United's attacks.  With the team in general struggling to click Rafael's forays down the right wing against an inexperienced right back Kyle Naughton should see some reward.

Baines Probably a permanent fixture in my select XI, this fixture holds promise of clean sheet and attacking points.

Gibbs  Arsenal are this season's top defensive performers so far and Gibbs is playing his part in the attack too.  I feel the Gunners will pull off the result against Chelsea that their performance against City deserved.

Johnson Despite an awful run of form Liverpool are slowly improving under Rodgers and if they can emulate Swansea's patient possession play of last year their defense will see many clean sheets.  Norwich are a little toothless right now and Johnson has featured well in Liverpool's attacks.

MIDFIELD

Cazorla  Arsenal's summer signing has yet to really grab the fantasy headlines this season despite a goal and 3 assists to his name.  The London Derby could be his game to shine.

Hoilett Mark Hughes' has used Hoilett sparingly so far but in Rangers; last game away at Tottenham he posed a real threat as QPR put in a good stint.  A home clash with West Ham is a great opportunity for this team to register their first win of the season.

Ben Arfa  Against a Reading team determined to get back to their strengths and register a clean sheet Ben Arfa will be given license to roam. His trickery and long range shooting could be key.

FOWARDS

Van Perise  His name is RVP and he's playing at home for Manchester United versus Tottenham.  Nuff said.

Mirallas  With a slight doubt over Jelavic's availability Kevin Mirallas could be the man to prosper most from Everton's stunning run of form up against the clean sheet adverse Saints.

Fletcher  A proven goalscorer at this level up against a Wigan side not that capable in the defensive side of the game.  Although Sunerland have struggled to create chances so far, when they do, they fall to Fletcher, and he puts them away.
